This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which ones madeirafriends.org uses, and how you can control them. It complements our Privacy Policy.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file stored by your browser when you visit a website. Cookies allow the Site to remember your preferences, measure traffic, and improve your experience. Similar technologies such as local storage, session storage, and pixels are covered by this policy as well.
2. The cookies we use
The Madeira Friends marketing site is intentionally light. We use only the cookies and technologies strictly necessary to operate the Site and protect it from abuse:
- Strictly necessary — session cookies used to deliver the page and to protect the contact form (e.g. anti-bot honeypot, CSRF protection). No consent required under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive.
- Preference — local storage values that remember UI preferences (e.g. closed banners). No personal data is sent to third parties.
We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking pixels, or third-party marketing tags on this Site. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this page and request your consent first where required.
3. Third-party content
Some pages embed or link to third-party services (for example WhatsApp click-to-chat, Google Fonts, our partner sites such as madeiraremote.com and hubmadeira.com). When you interact with those services, they may set their own cookies under their own policies.
4. Managing cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings:
Blocking strictly necessary cookies may break parts of the Site, such as form submission.
5. Changes
We may update this Cookie Policy when we add or remove technologies. The "Last updated" date above reflects the current version.
